Cime dei Carpazi

trip report - 2024

"We just returned from a week of mountain biking in the Carpathians and we already miss Romania! Truly unique experience!…"

In the big world of sports, cycling is a relatively small part. In the relatively big world of cycling, mountain biking is a small section. Then, in the relatively big world of mountain biking, there is a rather small crowd of people aiming for rides that are very accurately described by our three words headline: UP. DOWN. REPEAT.

Iblea and Albert are definitely part of this small, but spirited crowd of people. They have trained their legs for some proper climbs in their home ground Dolomites Mountains, both on and off the bike, to reach some majestic peaks in the Romanian Carpazi, and riding down on some truly inspiring natural trails.

They thoroughly enjoyed our Carpathian Peaks program, setting foot on peaks like Ciucaș, Piatra Mare, Omu, Strungile Mici, and subsequently enjoying some jaw-dropping descents.

What sets Iblea and Albert apart from the (already small) crowd is their relatively short experience in mountain biking. Albert has a three years history of biking in the mountains behind him, and Iblea only one year. It is truly impressive how far they’ve come in such a short time. My guess is that a big part of their secret is their genuine love for mountains in general. Iblea with a solid top-level history in rock climbing, Albert as a long standing ski tourer. Our kind of people :-).

Grande Iblea, grande Albert!
